　　对男演员马蒂而言，一生中悲惨莫过于此---被女友甩、被经纪人揍、被房东逐出公寓。在缺钱的情况下，他打算控告他的经纪人，他雇用脾气古怪的私家侦探杰克调查这案子。马蒂发现自己对刺激的侦探生活充满兴趣。因为同情，杰克心不情愿地派遣马蒂去调查一桩红杏出墙的案子。马蒂全副武装前往比佛瑞基镇执行他的第一份侦探工作，但情况却非他想象的如此简单。小镇是一个充斥着突变基因和怪异人种的大镕炉，包括天生就瘦骨嶙峋的女人、一群食人族和甜美可人但求爱若渴的辛蒂。当马蒂意外地听到当地发生的凶案时，他简直被这镇上的种种怪异乱象逼的快疯掉了。为了成为最神的侦探，他决心要大干一场，马蒂和杰克在比佛瑞基镇附近意外的发现一个核能测试站，他们逐渐了解种种异象发生的原因。
